1. How long have you been at HZ?
Three months and 19 days to be exact.
2. Is there a design trend you really love (or hate)?
I am a huge fan of line art, using a steady thickness throughout the entire design. It’s a challenging, fun, and modern approach that I adore. Stefan Ivankovic is one of my favorite designers in this style.
3. What other designers inspire you?
4. What would your absolute dream client be?
I would absolutely love to work on a fun clothing and accessory brand like So So Happy. I feel like it would be a fun and creative challenge working with unique characters and a wide variety of items.
5. Tell us a bit about your design—what influenced some of your decisions?
Eight years ago I adopted a dog, and it was the best decision I’ve made! The process, however, was a bit difficult, and the websites for adopting pets were subpar. They were challenging to navigate, and a bit intimidating to use. I ended up turning to listing sites such as Craig’s List instead, which is where I adopted from.
This inspired me to try and redesign the ASPCA website myself. To keep people from having the difficulty I encountered, I created a simple and easy-to-navigate layout with a bold color palette. I incorporated flat colors along with a subtle and unique patterned background throughout the home page and out-of-home banner placements. I also redesigned the animal profile displays, starting with a vibrant and inviting layout that focuses on animals and their characteristics. This would make the entire process a more fun and enjoyable experience for potential owners and may ultimately get more of these animals into new homes.
