How long have you been at HZ?
Roughly three and a half years—four if you count the time I interned for HZ’s NY office during college.
How would you describe your design style?
Feminine and clean, nothing too frilly. However, I don't really have a signature style—day-to-day at HZ my design style changes to fit the client's needs and the problem(s) at hand.
Is there a design trend that you really love (or hate)?
I love the recent trend toward bright, bold, vivid colors! I'm a fan of the Pantone Spring 2016 color palette.
Are there any brands you would consider a dream client?
Small boutique hospitality branding or something fun/creative like a craft beer or a food truck. My dream client would involve travel to cool places, like Iceland, Australia, or South America. Though I’d be happy with Nashville, LA, or Savannah!
What’s your favorite designing music?
Usually it's throwback hits that make you want to get up and dance, like “Just Got Paid” by NSYNC or “Jack & Diane” by John (Cougar) Mellencamp. But if I really have to focus, then I put on my headphones.
What inspired your wallpaper design?
Some combination of fashion, Instagram, and traveling. These roses were photos I took at the International Rose Test Garden in Portland, OR, last fall. I just thought they were so beautiful, and I've always wanted to use the photos I take in my work. I'm also continually inspired by what I see on Instagram and the many creative people I wouldn't be connected with otherwise.
Who would you like to nominate for next month’s featured designer?
Jules Henry in Santa Cruz!
