Sparking the Energy Level at BbWorld 2012

Making an entrance.

Blackboard, the world’s leader in education software and technology, puts on a monumental annual user conference to showcase new products, discuss trends, network, and have fun. But this year, they were expecting a record number of attendees and wanted to up the ante for BbWorld 2012 with a new look and feel—enter HZDG.

Setting the stage.

The event took place in New Orleans, in the nation’s sixth largest conference center, so the HZDG team had to cover quite a lot of space. The signage and materials added up to more than 200 pieces, which all needed to work together to give BbWorld 2012 a sense of place and energy while also directing and informing the 3,500 attendees.

Springing into action.

In less than two months, we developed a cohesive, colorful look for the event and created banners, column wraps, floor stickers, light boxes, directional signage, kiosks, counters, and miscellaneous giveaways, including the design and editing of a program with more than 160 pages.

Kudos and accolades.

According to Blackboard’s team, this was the smoothest process they’ve ever experienced in getting ready for BbWorld—this was their 14th year—and they’ve received a lot of positive feedback. During the event, our work also frequently appeared in tweets and posts, and was used as backdrop for group shots.
